Overview#
Create an interactive role menu that lets members assign roles to themselves. The command opens a configuration panel where you set up the message, roles, behavior, and destination channel, then publish it for your members to use.
Behavior#
Running /autorole create opens an interactive configuration panel with the following options:
Configuration Buttons#
- Content: Opens a modal to set the message content:
- Title: Embed title (max 200 characters)
- Body: Message text (max 2,000 characters)
- Color: Hex color code for the embed accent
- Label: Button text members click to open the role selector (max 50 characters)
- Image: URL for an embed image
- Type: Choose the message format:
- Embed: A rich embed with title, description, color, and image
- Message: A plain text message
- Behavior: Set how role assignment works:
- Normal: Members can freely add and remove roles
- Add: Members can only add roles (cannot remove)
- Remove: Members can only remove roles (cannot add)
- Unique: Members can only hold one role from the list at a time; selecting a new role removes the previous one
- Roles: Select which roles members can assign (1 to 25 roles). Only enabled once content is set.
- Channel: Select the text channel to post the role menu in. Only enabled once at least one role is configured.
Action Buttons#
- Preview: See how the finished message will look before publishing
- Publish: Send the role menu to the selected channel
Minimum Requirements#
Before you can publish, the following must be configured:
- At least a title, body, or image (for embeds) or body (for plain messages)
- At least one role selected
- A destination channel selected
How Members Use It#
Once published, members click the button on the message to open a role selector. Depending on the behavior setting, they can add, remove, or swap roles. If only one role is configured, clicking the button toggles it directly without showing a selector.
Tips#
- Use Unique behavior for mutually exclusive roles like color roles or region roles.
- Use Add behavior for opt-in notification roles where you don't want members accidentally unsubscribing.
- Make sure the bot's role is positioned above the roles it needs to assign in your server's role hierarchy.
