Battles

Klaxosaurs appear in your server and everyone piles in to fight them, earning XP, currency and items.

Overview#

Every so often a klaxosaur turns up in one of your channels. Anyone who sees it can attack, and the damage everyone deals is pooled: bring it down together and the whole party shares the reward. Leave it too long and it wins.

There is nothing to learn and no command to run. A message appears, people press a button, and a fight happens.

Battles may not be available on every server yet. See Beta Features if you cannot find the setting in your dashboard.

Turning It On#

  1. Go to the dashboard and select your server
  2. Open Server Settings
  3. Find Klaxosaur Battles and choose where spawns should appear:
ModeWhat happens
DisabledNo battles spawn. This is the default.
Random ChannelBattles appear in whichever channels are currently active
Pick a ChannelEvery battle appears in one channel you choose

Random Channel suits busy servers: fights find the people rather than the other way round. Pick a Channel is better if you would rather keep them out of your general chat, though a dedicated channel only works if people remember to look at it.

How a Fight Works#

  1. A klaxosaur spawns with a health pool and an attack button
  2. Members attack; each hit takes a slice off its health and may deal retaliation damage back
  3. Damage from everyone accumulates against the same pool
  4. The battle ends in victory when its health reaches zero, or defeat if it is left alone too long

Different klaxosaurs have different health ranges, artwork and rewards. The tougher ones genuinely need a group.

Rewards#

A victory pays out to everyone who landed a hit:

  • Experience toward your global profile level
  • Magma, the currency spent elsewhere in the bot
  • Sometimes an item, which lands in your inventory

Rewards vary by klaxosaur, so an unusual one appearing is worth telling people about.

Seeing Your History#

The dashboard has two views:

  • Server → Battles shows the fight currently running plus everything your server has faced, with who took part and how much damage each person did
  • Your profile → Battles shows your own record across every server you share with the bot

Common Questions#

Do people need a role or permission to join in? No. Anyone who can see the message can attack.

Can two battles run at once? No. The bot checks for an unfinished battle before spawning, so a new one only appears once the last has been won or lost.

Nothing has spawned. Is it broken? Spawns are deliberately irregular, so a quiet stretch is normal. If nothing has appeared for a long time, check the mode is not Disabled, and (if you picked a specific channel) that the bot can actually see and post in it.

Does it need a permission to work? Only the usual View Channel, Send Messages and Embed Links wherever battles spawn.
