Channel Setup
Plan your whole channel layout in the dashboard, then apply it in one go.
Overview#
Channel Setup lets you design a server's channel structure as a plan (categories, channels, order, permissions), review the whole thing, and then apply it. Start from a template or from what you already have.
The point is that nothing happens until you say so. You can move things around, change your mind, and see the finished shape before a single channel is created or deleted.
Channel Setup may not be available on every server yet. See Beta Features if you cannot find it in your dashboard.
Using It#
- Go to the dashboard and select your server
- Open Tools → Channel Setup
- Start from a template, or from your current layout
- Add, rename, move, or mark channels for deletion
- Review the plan
- Apply
Templates#
Four starting points, each a complete layout you can then edit:

A template is a starting point, not a commitment: everything in it can be changed before you apply.
Drafts#
A plan can be saved and come back to later, so a big restructure does not have to happen in one sitting. The number of drafts you can keep depends on your server's plan.
What Applying Does#
The bot works through the plan in order: create categories, create channels, apply changes to existing ones, delete what you marked, then set the final ordering. Progress is reported as it goes.
Each operation is independent. If one channel cannot be created, the rest still go through and the failure is listed at the end rather than stopping everything.
Deletions are real. A channel marked for deletion is deleted, along with its messages, and Discord offers no undo. Read the plan before applying, particularly the deletions.
If It Is Interrupted#
If a run is cut short (a restart at the wrong moment, a connection lost), just apply again. The bot compares your plan against what the server actually looks like now, and only does what is genuinely still missing. It will not create a second copy of a category it already made, and it will not report an error for a channel that is already gone.
One consequence worth knowing: because matching is by name, the wizard cannot create a second channel with exactly the same name in the same category. Discord permits it, but it is indistinguishable from a channel the previous attempt already made. Give the second one a different name.
Common Questions#
Can I preview without applying? That is the default. Nothing reaches Discord until you press Apply.
Does it touch channels I did not include? No. Anything not in the plan is left alone.
What about permissions? Category and channel permission overrides are part of the plan and are applied with them. Role permissions themselves are not: those stay in Discord's own settings.
Why did some channels fail? Usually the bot's role sits too low to manage them, or it cannot see the category. Check Server Settings → Roles and make sure the bot has Manage Channels.
Can I undo an apply? No. Build the plan carefully, and be especially careful with deletions.
